About the Carline Learning Centre
On Monday, September 9th, Peter McVerry Trust formally took over the running of the Carline Learning Centre, an education centre based in Lucan which caters for young people aged 13-17 years old, excluded from or no longer attending mainstream education.
The aim of the Carline Learning Centre is provide young people with a high quality of education, provide them with like skills, play a positive role in society and both address and challenge the barriers faced by young people leaving mainstream education.
Overall, the Carline Learning Centre’s vision for the future is one where all children prosper, have access to an education system, have future personal success and can claim a genuine stake in society.
Key Achievements in 2018
- Worked with 57 young people
- 40% reintegrated back into mainstream education
- 17 young people sat the Junior Certificate examinations (109 in total since 2009)
- Celebrated 25 years’ of service
