As we approach Christmas 2021, we are once again hugely dependant on the generosity of people who support our work. We have overcome difficult challenges in the last year and helped over 10,000 people experiencing homelessness.

Now, we are asking individuals and business who can, to support us this Christmas and into the new year, enabling us to continue to provide pathways out of homelessness, even in the toughest of times.

“Live simply, share generously.”

In April 2021, Fr Peter McVerry was a guest on The Tommy Tiernan Show. On reducing homelessness, Fr McVerry spoke of the importance of building social housing and inserting a right to housing in the constitution.

When asked by Tommy what advice he would give to those of us who have a comfortable life, who have central heating and a television, Fr McVerry replied “live simply and share generously”.

Fr McVerry’s quote is the theme of our Christmas 2021 Fundraising Appeal and this festive period we’re asking the Irish public to live simply and share generously.

I’m delighted to be able to help Peter and the Peter McVerry Trust launch their Christmas Fundraising Appeal this year. I have huge admiration for the work Peter McVerry Trust does with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities for many years.

I sincerely hope that the public will come out and back this appeal so that the charity can raise the money it needs to continue to support people right across Ireland.
