Peter McVerry Trust Cycle 2023

Despite the wet weather, we welcomed over 200 cyclists to the new looped Peter McVerry Trust Cycle on Saturday 16th September – celebrating our 34th annual cycle.

Starting and finishing at Leopardstown Racecourse, cyclists of all ages took on either a 125km or 70km looped route through the scenic Wicklow mountains.

The event finished with a BBQ, live music and children’s entertainment in Leopardstown Racecourse, with fantastic entertainment from GlasSoul and Oscar Blue.

Ben Carolan, actor and Peter McVerry Trust Cycle ambassador said, “It was a tough cycle – particularly with the rain! It was a great day out though, and I was delighted my brother Adam took on the challenge with me, he kept me going on those hills. I’m proud to be today’s ambassador and support the work of Peter McVerry Trust. All the money raised today will go toward supporting their vital services for people experiencing homelessness in our country.”

Francis Doherty, CEO of Peter McVerry Trust, said, “It was brilliant to mark 34 years of our annual cycle with a new format event at Leopardstown Racecourse. The event is the biggest on our fundraising calendar and we couldn’t do it without the support of our cycle ambassador, volunteers, sponsors, partners, donors, staff and, of course, all the cyclists.”

“Events like the Peter McVerry Trust Cycle ensure that we can continue to help people impacted by homelessness across Ireland.”
