Tate plants trees at Peter McVerry Trust facility in Co. Kildare

Teaming up with Host in Ireland – the global initiative that promotes the hosting of digital assets in Ireland – to support its DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community initiative, Tate, a member of the Kingspan Group, has donated 125 mixed fruit trees to Peter McVerry Trust’s mid-east regional facility in Co. Kildare.

As part of its Planet Passionate Communities initiative, Tate is further cementing its support for Peter McVerry Trust following a €10,000 donation to the charity’s Christmas campaign in December 2021.

Set on a 17-acre site, Peter McVerry Trust’s regional facility in Co. Kildare offers a safe haven for those who are homeless or in recovery. The location is already home to a growing biodiversity garden and the team from Tate arrived onsite in late 2021, during planting season, to plant the 125 fruit trees of plum, pear and apple trees.

A member of Host in Ireland, Tate committed its support to the DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community initiative almost 12 months ago. Tate’s involvement is part of a wider initiative by Host in Ireland in which members have collectively planted 1,262 orchards, consisting of 6,310 fruit trees, in every county on the island of Ireland.

Commenting on its support for the DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community initiative, Shane McMahon, General Manager, Tate Europe, adds: “As part of the Kingspan Group, Tate is closely aligned to the business’s wider Planet Passionate strategy, and together with our membership of Host in Ireland, made supporting this environmental initiative hugely impactful.

“We are proud to be part of the campaign from Host in Ireland that’s delivering positive and practical steps to improving biodiversity in Ireland through the provision and planting of in excess of 6,000 fruit trees. This is just another step in our journey of helping to create a more sustainable society through our Planet Passionate Communities’ efforts.”

On selecting the charity as the beneficiary for its tree donation, Marion Egan, Divisional Marketing Director Europe, Tate Europe adds: “We share values of sustainability with Peter McVerry Trust and hugely admire the work that the charity delivers in communities across Ireland.

“Following on from Tate’s donation to the charity in 2021, we committed to furthering our efforts. Working as part of Host in Ireland’s DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community, our donation of 125 fruit trees to Peter McVerry Trust is a natural progression and will support the charity to expand its biodiversity efforts.”

Pat Doyle, CEO of Peter McVerry Trust comments: “We are delighted that Tate’s support for our charity is continuing following the company’s donation to our Christmas campaign in 2021.

“We are committed to improving and building facilities that support those who need us most, and the donation and planting of 125 trees, will deliver benefits to our site and service users for years to come.”
