Niall Mulligan has informed the Peter McVerry Trust Board of Trustees of his decision to retire in January 2027, following a 40-year career in the community and voluntary sector.
Since joining Peter McVerry Trust in April 2024, Niall has provided strong and compassionate leadership during a significant period of change for the organisation. Under his stewardship, the organisation has stabilised its operations, significantly strengthened its governance and laid important foundations for the future. The Board is grateful for Niall’s commitment, expertise and service during this pivotal chapter.
Niall’s retirement is a personal decision taken after four decades of service across the voluntary sector. The Chairperson of the PMVT Board has been aware for some time of Niall’s intention to retire in 2027, and is working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition.
The recruitment process for a new CEO will commence shortly and will be led by the Board of Trustees and an external recruitment agency. Their appointment in early 2027 will coincide with the launch of Peter McVerry Trust’s new strategy (2027-2030), marking an exciting next chapter for the organisation as we continue our mission to support individuals experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.
Everyone at Peter McVerry Trust wishes Niall a very long and happy retirement.
