Working together on a weekly basis supporting our participants co-ordinate their application, preparing them for the interview and supporting them through the onboarding process.

With 65 stores across Ireland, Mr. Price has played an active role in providing Peter McVerry Trust participants with employment opportunities, helping them move away from homelessness and towards gainful employment. Participants from various services, including emergency accommodation, TRAIL, housing, young people’s service, and aftercare, have been offered roles in different stores and positions within the company.

Anthony is one of these participants, and has worked at Mr. Price since September 2023.

In mid-2023, Mr. Price entered the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards 2024, organized by the Irish Centre for Diversity. They entered the Advancing Social Inclusion Award category and successfully won, highlighting the significant collaboration between Peter McVerry Trust and Mr. Price.

Head of Activation and IPS for Peter McVerry Trust, Paul Rosbotham commended Mr. Price on winning the award by saying: “Peter McVerry Trust’s partnership with Mr. Price has resulted in 36 participants moving into real and sustainable employment and in due course out of homelessness, an incredible positive achievement for each participant.

“Mr. Price is so deserving of this Social Inclusion Award and we value their collaboration. We look forward to creating more pathways into employment.”

In her acceptance speech, Ms. Edel Mc Soley, Head of Operations at Mr. Price said: “We at Mr.PRICE build strategic partnerships with organisations that complement our goals and values. With the appropriate supports, people can overcome barriers to thrive in the workplace.

“Peter McVerry Trust provide job coaching that matches our commercial training resulting in securing employment. Through our collaboration with this amazing organisation, Mr Price gained 36 employees through the Activation service which supports Young People’s Services, Emergency Accommodation, Addiction Services, International Protection and Housing Supports.”

Finalists included in the category were: Central Bank, Deloitte, Primark, Mr Price Branded Bargains, SOLAS, Valeo Foods.

In selecting Mr. Price as winner, the judges said: “The winner demonstrated an inclusive recruitment policy that involves going out to marginalised communities to attract members into the business.  They are actively implementing this strategy across the whole company, putting in place inclusive measures which recognise that everyone can and should be supported to flourish in their own right.

As a company they recognise that people from marginalised backgrounds or excluded groups are not all homogenous and that a one-size-fits-all approach will produce limited results.  They tailor their support to each individual and their specific needs.”

Peter McVerry Trust values the relationship with Mr. Price, and the work we have achieved together. We look forward to continuing this partnership into the future, supporting our participants into employment.
