Paul Harrington headlines Christmas Carol Concert

On Saturday night, Eurovision winner Paul Harrington kicked off the Christmas season in style in St. Patrick’s Cathedral at Peter McVerry Trust’s sold-out Carol Concert 2022. Opening with his Eurovision hit, ‘Roll n Roll Kids’, Paul’s set included ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.

After a two-year Covid-19 enforced hiatus, host and veteran broadcaster Pat Kenny was delighted to welcome the packed audience back to the Cathedral for a night of carols.

The evening was opened by the Dublin Youth Choir. Since its foundation in 2017, Dublin Youth Choir has grown to a family of choirs which includes four Junior Choirs, Training Choirs, Cambiata Choir, Youth Choir, Chamber Choir, and DYC Singers. They sang a number of Christmas favourites including ‘Silent Night’ and ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’.

Next to grace the stage was the Dublin Male Voice Choir. The choir was founded in 2006 and regularly participates in choral festivals nationwide. Their powerful performance featured ‘The First Noel’ and ‘I know a Flower that Springeth’.

Fr Peter McVerry also took to the stage to thank attendees for their support and to highlight that whilst Christmas is a wonderful time for many – for others it can be the hardest time of the year.

The Christmas Carol Concert is an important fixture in our fundraising calendar and we would like to thank everyone who attended, our host Pat Kenny and our brilliant performers; Paul Harrington, Dublin Youth Choir and Dublin Male Voice Choir.
