Last night, at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2022, Peter McVerry Trust secured the ‘Excellent in Healthcare Management’ award for our organisation’s extensive and urgent response to Covid-19.
The Irish Healthcare Awards celebrate and reward the achievements, innovation and resilience of the Irish healthcare sector.
The ‘Excellence in Healthcare Management’ award celebrates a project that improved efficiency or care for a client group.
Peter McVerry Trust worked with the most vulnerable in society and provided protection from Covid-19 through the provision of eight isolation units facilitating: people living in homelessness, patients leaving HSE services, children in Tusla services and asylum seekers.
Throughout the course of the pandemic, our team helped over 14,000 people to self-isolate or shield through the provision of specialised accommodation that facilitated integrated care to include onsite PCR testing, general, mental health and addiction assessments, nursing care, addiction support and initiation, medication support and social care interventions.
On the night, Peter McVerry Trust was represented by Brian Friel, our Deputy CEO, Bernie Keigher, Director of Services with Responsibility for Homeless Services, Liz Peña, Director of Services with Responsibility for Allocations, Research and Compliance and colleagues from across our services that played a key role in our Covid-19 response including Homeless Services, Addiction and Recovery, Resettlement and U18s and Aftercare.
