Dublin services

Peter McVerry Trust provides a number of services across Dublin’s four Local Authorities. These include Housing First, housing services, homeless services, prevention services, addiction and recovery services, U18s residential services, Aftercare housing and resettlement services.

In 2023, we supported 5,116 unique individuals across our services in Dublin.

In 2023, Peter McVerry Trust worked directly with over 14,000 people across Ireland and supported over 1,200 people into their own home.

Housing First

As an early adopter and major supporter of the concept, we have been working on the Housing First model since 2011 in Dublin. Peter McVerry Trust continues to seek ways to expand and improve the delivery of Housing First in Ireland. We work with the Dublin Region Homeless Executive to deliver our Housing First work across Dublin. Learn more here.

As of October 31st 2021, Peter McVerry Trust has created 666 Housing First tenancies in the Dublin Region since being awarded the joint contract for Housing First services by the DRHE in late 2014. Overall, this has resulted in the charity supporting 519 unique individuals out of homelessness. To date, the Housing First model has seen an 86.7% tenancy retention rate, with 450 individuals successfully sustaining their tenancies.

In 2020, Peter McVerry Trust created 125 Housing First tenancies in the Dublin Region and continued to provide pathways out of homelessness for some of society’s most vulnerable people.

Housing

Peter McVerry Trust has 250 units in Dublin. Occupants of these homes receive assistance to sustain their tenancies through our Housing with Support team. We also provide support to hundreds of tenants who have progressed to private rented or local authority housing from our services.

We work in partnership with the Housing Agency and the four local authorities in Dublin to deliver housing solutions.

Homeless services

Peter McVerry Trust has been providing emergency homeless accommodation in Dublin since 1983.

The majority of our homeless services in Dublin provide accommodation to single people but we also work with couples and families with children.

During winter 2018/19, Peter McVerry Trust added over 200 emergency accommodation beds in Dublin, spread across the four Dublin local authorities (Dublin City Council, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council, and South Dublin County Council).

As of February 2019, Peter McVerry Trust operates 31 services in Dublin accommodating 857 people.

We work with the Dublin Region Homeless Executive, and the four local authorities in Dublin, to deliver our homeless services.
