Addiction and Recovery Services

Peter McVerry Trust operates a number of addiction and recovery services. These services have varying remits from our Residential Community Detox which accepts referrals on a national basis to regional services such as the Residential Stabilisation Service focused on the North-East Inner-City area of Dublin, ARAS which covers Kildare and West Wicklow and Ait Linn which covers North Dublin.

Residential Community Detox

This service caters for individuals who are going through detox from methadone and those wishing to cease their use of cannabis, cocaine or alcohol.

 

A pre-admission referral and case management system is in operation, and post-placement progression is supported by way of a key working system and established pathways to recognised day and residential treatment providers. This service operates with full clinical governance from the HSE.

Residential Stabilisation Service

Peter McVerry Trust’s Residential Stabilisation Service currently offers a number of Tier 4 residential programme, including:

  • Supervised opiate substitution stabilisation
  • Supervised benzodiazepine stabilisation
  • Stabilisation from poly-substance and/or alcohol use

All programmes are five weeks in duration and are under supervision of a Level 2 prescribing GP with clinics on-site daily. The service provides 24-hour on-site nursing cover and operates under full HSE Clinical Governance.

PMVT Addiction Service – ARAS

ARAS provides treatment and rehabilitation support to individuals and families affected by drug and alcohol misuse in the Kildare and West Wicklow areas, including:

  • Support clients in their referral to relevant support services
  • Key working sessions for people experiencing issues related to substance misuse
  • Counselling
  • Drop-in Service
  • HSE Harm Reduction Drop-in and Needle Exchange
  • Day Programmes for Stabilisation and Relapse Prevention

PMVT Addiction Service – Áit Linn

Áit Linn offers support and recovery for individuals over the age of 18 who are personally affected by alcohol misuse, or by that of a family member, in the North Dublin area.

  • Alcohol Addiction Advice
  • Family Support Advice
  • Harm Reduction / Information Programme
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Treatment Group
  • Aftercare

Clients are encouraged to seek short or long-term individual counselling if they have deeper or more private issues they wish to explore.
