Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the world’s digital infrastructure company, has donated 250 mixed fruit trees to Peter McVerry Trust’s emergency accommodation service in Kildare.

Members of the Equinix Dublin team were on hand today to help start the planting of the 250 fruit trees of plum, pear and apple trees.

Set on a 17-acre site, Peter McVerry Trust’s service in Kildare offers supported temporary accommodation to people impacted by homelessness. The location is already home to a growing biodiversity garden and a small farm that houses a collection of rescue animals.

Pat Doyle, CEO of Peter McVerry Trust, said, “It’s absolutely fantastic to be the recipient of this generous donation of fruit trees for our service in Kildare. As a Supporting Organisation of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, our goal is to make the best possible use of our outdoor spaces in terms of biodiversity and conservation. We’re committed to improving and building facilities that support those who need us most, and the donation and planting of 250 trees, will deliver benefits to our site and service users for years to come.”

Equinix is teaming up with Host in Ireland – the global initiative that promotes the hosting of digital assets in Ireland – to support its DCs for Bees Orchards in the Community initiative. During 2021, to help protect the bees and increase pollination, Host in Ireland members planted in excess of 1,200 mixed fruit orchards all over Ireland. For the 2022/2023 planting season, they aim to plant 2,000 orchards.
