Peter McVerry Trust provides a number of services across Offaly, Laois, Longford and Westmeath. These include Housing First, housing services, homeless services, Aftercare housing and resettlement services.

In 2023, we supported 568 unique individuals across our services in the Midlands.

Housing First

Peter McVerry Trust signed the Housing First Contract for the Midlands Region, on Friday January 10th 2020.

The contract will see Peter McVerry Trust working with Westmeath County Council, Offaly County Council, Laois County Council and Longford County Council over the next three years initially, delivering individual homes for 34 rough sleepers across the four local authorities.

In 2020, with a Year One target of 9 tenancies, Peter McVerry Trust created 11 Housing First tenancies in the Midlands Region and continued to provide pathways out of homelessness for some of society’s most vulnerable people.

Housing

We are delivering housing and aftercare supports in the Midlands. Our Housing with Supports team work with tenants in our own housing as well as those in private rented and social housing.

In 2019, Peter McVerry Trust opened nine apartments in Kilbeggan. This included five two-bed and four one-bed units which were delivered in partnership with Westmeath County Council through the long-term Social Housing Leasing Scheme under Rebuilding Ireland. The apartments in Kilbeggan were refurbished and converted from a number of unused commercial units.
